**updated 4/2/2010**
The group buy is for 1x genuine Hex+Can USB lead which will come individually sealed and packaged. The usual RRP from a UK distributor is over £250. More info at RossTech
****

***Update 20/3***
The original GB figures obtained excluded VAT. This has now been corrected, and refunds issued to anyone no longer wishing to take part due to my error in not including VAT applicable.

The GB:
I have managed to secure, subject to min order qty and bulk shipping to one UK address and 12 months UK support, for £195 +VAT (£229.13) from an official UK Ross-Tech distributor V-Tech UK Ltd. Reshipping to those in the group buy, by either courier or Royal Mail special delivery (so insured and trackable by those taking part) I'm estimating at £7 MAX. I am confirming postage weights and costs. Shipping to a UK address only

This means £235.83 delivered to you

This GB must conclude by 15th 24th March 2010, and all payments must be received by me by 5pm on this date as cleared funds to allow the transfer of funds to the distributor. Shipping timescales will be confirmed, but allow 5 working days. Again I will clarify once the GB ends, and the order placed.

I have a bank account that will be solely used for the purpose of this GB. Any interest earned I will send onto Cancer Research

*** CHEQUES MUST ARRIVE BY WED 10th MARCH *** Too late now to send cheques
*** BANK TRANSFERS MUST ARRIVE BY 5pm 15th MARCH ***

**updated 1/2/2010**
Paying by paypal is not an option due to fees. Sorry
****

Warranty & Support

Your warranty will lie with V-Tech UK Ltd/Ross Tech. Once the order is placed, I will be unable to refund monies paid if you change your mind and have already sent me payment - you'll soon be the owner of a Hex+can lead! I will need contact details for you in order to get your invoice and register your product.

This post will be updated with any important updates. I will mark them with the date, and place before the running participant list at the bottom of this post.

Cheers gadgetman

Very interested. Have downloaded the manual and will make good bedtime reading.
Although I'm getting a new Skoda with warranty, I'd still like to know what's going on if/when things go wrong.
Expect to keep the car for more than 3 years anyway.

Paying by paypal is fine.

HOWEVER, you must pay all fee's paypal charge. https://www.paypal.c...side&countries=

This would make a paypal purchase approx £209

Simon, another option is to send the paypal payment as a 'gift' this way no fee's are incurred.

Need the money for the repair :(

Will a gift payment be acceptable? I was going to pay by PayPal but I expect they'll kick off if you receive 30+ gift payments in a short time? :) How about direct bank transfer instead?

(Although I'll be no 33 after the two having to change plans)

I've been after one of these for a while now and this beats £240 off ebay for a secondhand one :D
Re the payment options, I assumed from the first post that bank transfer to the new dedicated VCDS bank account was the default choice, with Paypal just another option (with fee)?

Not much time tonight, so will tidy thread list tomorrow.

Sadly, the gift option isnt viable. Paypal's auto detect software will flag my account, likely ban it, or land us all with fees later on. So if you must use paypal, you must pay all fees using the option when filling out the form with details of the transaction. Roughly worked this out as £209 - so an extra £7 for Paypal.

So I think cheque or bank transfer is best, as no fees for anyone, and my bank usually clears cheques in 3 days.

There are at least two ways that you can avoid Paypal fees - pay from cleared funds in your Paypal account or pay from a linked bank account. Many personal account holders also pay no fees but if you receive more than £1000 in a 4 week period you will be forced to upgrade to a business account, and that opens up a whole other can of worms. From your point of view (Gadgetman) I would not be looking to use Paypal.

Just get everyone to send you a cheque or transfer cleared funds into your special bank account (smart move that!) and then post on here 5 working days before you place the order who will and won't get a kit purchased for them. And then stick to that. You've done a great job setting this up and I don't want you put off doing it again.

I would like to pay by direct credit transfer to your unique account - Will this be OK ?
Many thanks
