N95 contacts to iphone

Featured Replies

hi all :)

I have a new ipone and need to transfer the contacts from my N95 to the iphone. Most of them were transfered with a sim card but loads are still on the fone memory. I have tried to do it with OVI pc suite but not sure how to do it right! I have MS outlook epress but cant seem to do a sync!!...Where am i going wrong? Is there a good trouble shooting web page to help me?

Cheers

Kit :)

Go to contacts, options, mark all. Options again, send business card, select your iphone.

depending on what ver of windows your on, you can either sync to outlook express, or windows contacts (vista/win7) - then itunes should be able to sync them the other way.

Via bluetooth! ;)

The easiest and most effective way to do this is through Outlook. Unless you have one of these

Seriously, it's the best way. Your iphone when plugged in should look in the right places

Now what ive found is that Outlook doesnt work on my machine at home and i dont have itunes on the one at work!!...wouldnt it just be simpler to increase the size of sim cards!!!....so basically i cant be arrsed and will just do without the numbers until i need one of them then have a panic!!!

But i dont have a network connection now on thew N95 as have chanced providers so cant bluetooth it across...that is unlesss there is a way round it ?

You don't need a network connection for bluetooth.

As above. The N95 will start fine in 'offline' mode allowing wifi and bluetooth as well as full phone access - yopu just wont be able to call any one ;)

Ah didnt know that!!...will give it a try tonight and see what happends....but first sounding dumb again ...how dod i do it? Have never used bluetooth before!!...do i just go into my contacts and select them all and send by BT to iphone?

You can't send data to the iPhone over bluetooth so that won't work. I tried it when I was in the same position. I did an Outlook sync to get it sorted.

Brother in law did it with his 3GS from his Nokia 5800 just fine :S

Quick bit of reading suggests it may work if you don't pair the devices first, just send business card via bluetooth. Worth a go. I'd paired mine and couldn't get it to work.

Well managed to get them to be connected to each other via bluetooth but after i marked them all and said send by business card and pressed send by bluetooth it dropped to connection...tried it a few times a the same every time!!...think for a while il just carry two fones around with me and use the N95 just as a fone book!!...this is so stupid!!...just make sim cards take more numbers....surely that isnt rocket science!!!

Thanks for all your help

Kit :)

Try doing it without pairing the two phones first. Just have bluetooth turned on on the iphone and n95 but make sure they're not paired. You may have to delete the device if you've already paired them. Then try sending the contacts again. Maybe just try 1 first to test the principal.

What operating system do you have at home? If it's Vista or 7 then you should be able to use the built in mail program to sort it. If you've got XP then you may be able to download a trial version of Office 2007 and use Outlook 2007 to sync the contacts and then uninstall it. Long winded but might be worth a go.
