New VRS Here

Methinks I'm living in a time warp

well i think it looks well gay

i dont really see the point in it being a 1.4 though. sure it has lots of power but doesnt it take the point out of it being a small motor? young people will struggle to get in insured on it and imsure people who would get insured easily would want a bigger engine. iknow personally i wouldnt have one, 7 speed auto definatly puts me off  even if it has paddles.

anyone know what the torque is?

So it's got a 1.4L engine.

Super & Turbo charged giving you 180bhp.

Why would you neccessarily want a bigger engine?

If the bigger engine is just going to produce the same bhp.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but this is the complete opposit way of doing things to the American's (who go for the largest possible engine).

It just seems to make perfect sense to reduce the overall engine size and then super/turbo chrge it.

Performance along with effeciency....

well surely it doesnt have much torque atall for being so small?

just seems like it would be quite 'highly strung' to be that power. and at the end of the day people are just going to take the michael for it being a 1.4 :giggle:

the fact that its petrol seals the deal for me anyway. its diesel or nothing!

oh and how does this turbo/charger setup work? if a turbo goes pop is it going to kill the charger too? very bad!!

horrible imo...wheels are dire also

I guess it's a big weight saving idea and reduces emissions. Yer right about the turbo/supercharger issue though and the fact that there are a lot of pulleys and belts to worry about.

I'm loving the lack of knowledge on this thread... :giggle:

you need to calm down :giggle:

you going to enlighten us then mein kommandant..

Fuuuuuuglyyyyyyy. Doesn't look different enough from the standard model which is NOT good (in my opinion). The interior looks alright apart from the steering wheel which I don't like. Not sporty enough. I wouldn't buy one. If you like the engine, depending on the price hike I'd say the Polo is the MUCH better looking proposition.

...or the Seat Ibiza. The FR can now be had with a diesel...

What!!!!

There's going to be a new Fabia vRS!!!!

Anybody know what it looks like....? :giggle:

Not keen on the idea of a small petrol engine its pathetic for a sports model.

The seats are horrid look like they have taken them straight out of a 1980's volvo! Urrrg

I love the blinkered comments myself... it's a smaller engine therefore it must be rubbish.

Forget the idea of the small engine and look at the tech:This is a great little engine with the supercharger working up to 2500 rpm then the turbo and charger together up to 3500rpm and then turbo only from 3500 to redline. The compressor is activated and de-activated by a coupling on the waterpump pulley. The engine won a world engine award last year and has been widely praised for its performance and economy. Add a fast changing DSG and I may be very tempted. Will have to drive it fist though!

£17k for a Fabia, your 'avin a Larff. Count me out.

The smaller engine thing is ****e im affraid guys just because its a smaller engine dosent mean its not quick 180 bhp kinda answers that question. Its just modern technology that can produce quick cars without having great big engines. But still looks like a great big snot ball if you ask me.

would'nt catch me in one

Not keen on this.

Too high and narrow... looks like a 1970's rollerskate.

They should have fitted arches to it at least, even then i still think overall its bland but then im not keen on the new skoda styling.

Only thing i do like is the seats!

I like the sound of the power and I wouldn't mind driving a 1.4 but...

....the style is far to suble. Something a bit more aggressive would appeal more to me personally. - looks too much like the normal fabia 2.

nice car but too steep in the price range

Theres nothing wrong being a homo, if thats youre thing, but cars shouldnt be or look homo and the new VRS does. When the new model came out it looked like Skoda were trying to appeal to the Honda Jazz clientelle and had gone all feeble and lost all that I like about the mark 1 - the slightly ugle agressive boldness of the design.

Im very interested in how it will drive and how the engine will deliver the power tho so wont right it off just yet.

would'nt catch me in one

I would if I had over 180bhp though.......
