Coolant Temp Sensor (2002 1.8T Octavia)

Featured Replies

Hello Guys,

I have some cold starting problems in my 2002 Skoda Octavia 1.8T

  • In the morning when I start the engine for the first time, it imediately dies, then, I started again and everything is OK for the rest of the day.
  • As soon as the car start, I fill the engine vibrating a little but when the engine get warmer, the small vibration goes away.
  • I also dont hear the electric fuel pump priming when I open the drivers door in the morning.

I remeber long time like 5 years ago, I use to have the same problemo and the Skoda dealer replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor and this cure the problem. Now, its look like that sensor is bad again.

So today, I went to the Skoda dealer to buy this Coolant Temp Sensor and eaven that I gave the guys the info of my car including Chasis Number, the guy toll me that he has 2 sensor models :dull:

My Chasis No. is TMBAL41U928549849 2002 1.8T OCTAVIA AGU ENGINE

So you guys, I really apreciated you tell me what is the correct color or reference one?

059 919 501A Green Sensor

078 919 501C Black Sensor

Also, in the pic, there is another sensor that it installed in horizontal way in the same place. It has the No 11/12/13 Do you know what is this sensor for?

Thx,

Isaac

Hi

The CTS is common on the 1.8T engines

The one you need is 059 919 501A , that is a 4 pin green one

That is the new superceeded one

The old one is 059 919 501 4 pin black one

there is aslo another one on your car , 06A 919 501 and that is a 2 pin blue , or grey can`t rightly remember.........

But that is for the secondry air thingy , and not common at all

The 4 pin one alters the fuelling for when the engine is cold , if you like the auto choke

So can effect poor running and bad fuel ecomomy

It also does the temp guage on the dash

So if that goes up and down , then it could be the CTS

Hope that helps?

Sarah
