I'd say get the 256mm brakes Richard. They definitely made a difference...

At such a slow speed in top gear it's out of the powerband really. It does pick up and then whizz off, but not as much as from just under 2000rpm.

Off the top of my head it's doing something like 1400-1500 rpm at 50mph.

Cheers Ross. It does feel good at this heiight and I don't have to worry about speed bumps.

Good long soak in WD40 perhaps?

Did my first bit of track driving today, except for Santa Pod.

Novice day at Brands Hatch with a bit of training.

Car performed faultlessly. Despite the temp being in the high 20s it never showed any sign of weakness.

Great fun powering out of the corners and overtaking expensive two door sports cars down the straights. :giggle:

I have to take my hat off to Jabbasport, over 80 minutes of full on track driving today everything worked as it should.

No issues and it felt as good at the end as at the start.

Got quite a few comments on the car over the day. Keeping it looking standard seems to surprise people.

Best quote was from a Porshe driver in the pitlane for the last drive:

"Do you want to go in front of me, it'll save you overtaking me every session"

Looks good.........but get rid of the "fried egg" look, fit some phillips silver vision bulbs!!!! B)

Any onboard video clips by any chance?

I bet it was a very nice day out.

No video unfortunately. Need to get an onboard camera set up for next time.

GoPro, highly recommended. Can be securely mounted outside even, but most track restrictions would prevent this.

We both commented :D

I was meaning the GoPro for the quality of footage as much as the mounting options for it really emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Problem is, without a gauge you wouldn't know it's overheating, my oil showed 150c+ and the temp gauge was still at the normal 90c.

You should have said you was going, I would have come down and got some photos (and come out in it!). :)

I did mention it here, but not in the Fabia 1 section.

You never know, we may get to meet up one day!

It's back into Jabasport for a week over August for another tweak or two, so I'll ask about oil temps while it's in.

Oil temps shouldn't be as bad..

The MD376 turbos are purely oil cooled so the oil picks up all the heat whereas the turbo on Richards car is water cooled, so oil is for lubrication only, not cooling.

Plusgas would be better than WD40, which is just a lubricant. Plusgas is a lubricant too, but it designed for helping dismantle stuff.

Must say I absolutely love your car; it would be exactly what I would have if I had the money. Apart from changing the rear brakes (I'd do it for looks, even if there wasn't any performance benefit) and maybe colour code the grille, I wouldn't change one thing. You have exquisite taste sir, and I'm very jealous!

Outstanding car in every way, and don't change the standard looks, it's perfect  the seats and the colour are also very B)

eBay mini cams that are smaller than a key fob, weigh about the same as couple of pieces of card so they can be velcroed anywhere in seconds are an outstanding option :) (If you want to check out the quality, here is footage from mine: http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F%3Fgl%3DGB%26hl%3Den-GB&hl=en-GB&gl=GB#/watch?v=dN-3HZlgR1g )

Another trip to Santa Pod today with Luke (X4OAS) and Ross.

Nice moring, then the rain came... and not a good day for times either with such strong headwinds.

I was about 0.3 to 0.5 seconds down on each run.

Had a play without using the traction control and I was getting similar times to the eigth of a mile as last time with it on. Then the wind was keeping the top speed down by about 4mph on last time.

On the positive side my gearchanging seems to be getting faster. :D

They 2 piece discs on rear? Sexy!

Oh, what spacers do you run, to run Brembos?

I'm running 8mm on the front only for the Bembros, but getting a little vibration from 75mph to 85mph.

So I've got an Ultraleggera on order to see if I like the fit and style on the car, before I order a set. With no spacers then needed I hope to eliminate the vibration (and spray up the sides) while also making the car about 10kg lighter on unsprung weight.

I really want to get a quarter mile time of 13.5 seconds while still having a fully functional 5 door/5 seat hatchback with a spare wheel and good drivability (not all top end). So running it in road trim without stripping anything.

Yes, the back discs look good, definately balance the fronts better now and it stops even faster than before, which I didn't think was possible! :D

Glad you took the advice......and that you noticed/appreciate the difference! B)

P.S. what kit/manufacture are those, as I've not seen them before!?

That was a great shot of the speedo... :)

I had a set on one of the Fabias, but didn't think they worked style-wise on the Fabia personally - spokes are too thin.

They are very light though emoticon-0148-yes.gif
