And no this is NOT the Vision D Concept from the Geneva show in March.

Translated from French.

looks nice

Looks Dull....:|

I'd buy one.

badge a lil too far up bonnet for me front is nice but doesnt look as beefy a car to me there again I hated the FL and I have one of those some how :giggle: can't wait to see VRS version :D

Horrible. Looks like the current VW Jetta from the side. Hardly a step forward in design.

Thats an old A4 or a Seat Exeo.

Sorry Skoda but you need to try harder to differentiate yourself from your VAG stablemates.

Seperated at birth - it's a bloody con!

Now I've always thought the Octavia was the Å koda Ford Focus competitor (albeit a better value for money larger car than the class dictated)... Now the Autocar blurb says this will be the Focus sized car? So what happens to the Octavia? Will the next one grow a bit to become Superb sized and be a Passat competitor? And the Superb will grow to become a competitor to...???! Or will the Octavia size and nameplate just be killed?

As to the looks... well boring for sure. But then I don't anyone will argue that an Ambiente Octavia is not boring either! So once this is wrapped in vRS clothing it might be better. But in the looks department it looks a little bit too much like the US built Passat and Jetta to me.

Looks very coporate.... all the flair has gone. The distinguished saloon look but being a hatch has been lost. The Octavia is one of the few cars that carried off that design really well. It should be a better car underneath as it will be which ever golf based platform they are going to use next. But they have done a BMW 5 series and created a duller looking car than the previous one. How sad. Don't do it , hey they should get Chris Bangle on the team , he is way ahead of his time.

I like it

Theres nothing wrong with bland, just gives you space to make yours stand out a bit.

It certainly doesn't look focus sized but wouldn't be surprised if they tried to separate it a bit more size wise from the superb (there's a big gap between the fabia and the Octavia).

Looks like a jetta or passat? Ever seen the current Octavia lined up with a passat and an old A4? Historically they have always looked like they were designed by the same person.

Roll on the Scout version :-)

Not sure about it, it will probably grow on me just as the Octy did!

On the plus side it's not the new Octavia. It's only the MissionL concept design which is how the new Skoda model might look. The new model will sit between the fabia and Octavia Skoda are also saying they are going to present a new vehicle every six months over the next 2 to 3 years.

Now I've always thought the Octavia was the Škoda Ford Focus competitor

Looking at all the tests the Journos seem to lump it with the Mondeo sized cars, and looking at its size i'd tend to agree with them...

I'd be interested in seeing an estate version of that come three years time to replace my new Golf Estate, would be nice to go back to Skoda!

I saw a brand new Passat this morning, and this kind of reminded me of it.

Saw a Passat too, and it looks just a cheap overblown Polo, somehow disproportionate.

This a lot more decent.

as already mentioned - its skoda's MissionL Concept.

its going to b called "Lauretta".

"According to reports, the production version of the MissionL will be called the Skoda Lauretta and feature a similar design to the MissionL Concept. It will also offer similar proportions and specifications to cars like the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf. Skoda describes the new model as a “compact liftback”."

source

in india, the octavia is known as the "laura". considering this is going to be a baby "octavia...aka laura", it would explain the name...."lauretta"!

Interesting since I posted the Autocar source above in post #7 they have amended the text and took away the reference they had had in there calling it the Felicia! Sneaky devils!

It definitely just looks like a Lancia clone from the front. Maybe the VW parts bin is empty and so they've dipped in to the Chrysler one instead?!

I'm convinced that the sub Octy model will be a conventional hatchback like a Golf with a nearer vertical rear window/hatch, this looks too similar in concept to the Octy to me.

I'm also convinced the next Octy will have a longer wheelbase than the Golf its based on, as the recent Jetta does, and will therefore be growing in size.

Perhaps the concept is a 4 door derivative of the hatch. If so its very well resolved, (like dare I say it the latest Jetta, which looks a lot less like a Golf with a boot stuck on than previous generations)
