Good shout that would save on fuel as well, just wouldn't mind taking the little fella to Germany and various other places, last owner already took him to Italy lake garda and Le mans

Nice one gents!

Just need a couple of more cars I reckon!!

Anyone else fancy this... Still plenty of time to get some pennies together!

When are you thinking ?

When are you thinking ?

Nothing definite as yet but April is easiest for the 2 cars in my party, octynik & monkeykler also are good with this, so very likely to be then, fancy getting involved!?!?

on another note.....

Had a word with the others my end about popping over to Reims Formula One circuit.

They would prefer to hit the Nürburgring as this is closer to Amsterdam and not much of a deviation, whereas Reims is about 150 miles south of Calais.

Maybe yes... I was planning my next trip to be either march or April with my mates so may do a big old convo, but we did Amsterdam after the ring last year and spent way too much money so we will probs only do the ring and the dam another time.

This was the route we took... if you can do it because the 2 roads we fount in Luxembourg are nearly as good a the ring its self lol ... http://g.co/maps/vpmkn

Oh deary me, this isn't looking too amazing for me right now, dads just called me from the garage, new turbo + intercooler have been wiped out, turns out the engine is buggered, all metal bits inside the oil filter as well, i know this is off topic but i had literally had the cambelt done that week, do you think the cambelt not being done properly could have caused all of this damage? (sorry looking to blame some one to save me thousands hah)

crap, that sucks :( sorry dude

it could be a whole host of things. probably best to post this in the relevant section to get an idea

I'm quite interested in this. I'd love to take my Cee'd around the 'ring. I'd probably take the ferry to dunkirque though as its cheaper.

Depending when we went I might do the drive down with you guys, then head to Amsterdam and do some theme parks. Efteling and Wailbi Holland would be my targets + anywhere else that would have some decent rides.

I'm easy WRT plans - anything's good - as long as it's a roadtrip with Skodas (and Kias!) it's all good!

We could even try and recreate the Lonely Island's "I'm on a boat" during the ferry crossing? No? Ok then! haha!

Would be good to get some more people on board.. there is also people in my group who would love to go to a theme park!

Where do you get the ferry from?

my co-driver was thinking the exact same thing this morning!!

sweet, that makes it easier then...Nürburgring it is then!

If It wasnt for the extra cost of getting the ferry from here in N.Ireland, Id be very tempted!

I think we should all pitch together and help our Northern Irish pal get a ferry ticket!

I can imagine that would really bump up the costs for you :( Would be awesome to have you on board though!

There is 3 types of crossing for this trip..

1. Get the Euro tunnel from Folkestone to Calais which is about £ 90 return

2. Get the ferry from Ddover to Calais which depending on what time you what to cross is about £ 60-90 return

3. Get the ferry from Dover to Dunkirk and again depending on what time you want to cross is about £ 80-120 return

They all kinda cost the same so its just what you want really. When i go i always get the Ferry from Dover to Calais just because its easier and simple.

Then if you wanting to do the drive to the ring quickly as you can then its about 4:40 hrs without traffic, but when we go we normally go down to Luxembourg for a few reasons, 1.. the cheap fuel, 2.. the great driving roads and 3.. just make it more of a road trip which adds about 1:30 2 hrs on the trip.

Yeah I took the Dover to Calais route in Janurary this year when I went and probably do the same this time... should be easy enough for us all to meet up there as we're all coming from different parts of the country.

I'm up for a little de-tour thru Luxembourg.. nothing like a nice bit of scenery!

shame you're so far away

i would, but i've now gotta find £300 for a re-map if i have any ambitions not to fall too far behind you and my mates car

Dover-Dunkirk..can be as low as 30quid return. I usually pay around 50..

+1 Norfolk lines Dover Dunkirk is usually much cheaper and quieter than Dover Calais. If you catch a 10pm/ midnight sailing you can be at the ring for Breakfast, save on the ferry fair and have more space on the ferry. Shortish drive through Belgium and then straight onto unrestricted autobahn

  • 2 months later...

Gonna have to bail on this trip now I'm afraid... off snowboarding again on the 17th March B)

  • 2 weeks later...

If your coming over for longer than a week you could also fit a track day at Spa in, the run up to Eau Rouge is fantastic, even in a road car you have the feeling you're about to be launched, as well as either of the Rings .A trip to Sinsheim Museum or the 40k away Speyer collection is always worthwhile. Zolder is also nearby.

Amsterdam is not the easiest place to visit in groups. Staying outside the city and travelling in by train , using a Meermanskaart (Group ticket) is the easiest way.
