....i have a Columbus(updateded with latest firmware) with voice control and rear view camera .

Would this be suitable HERE and will i be needing The bracket carpet cover and fitting screws or are these included?

Don't know enough to comment on the part no I'm affraid. Contact the guy, he's very helpful.

I sent a "will this work in my xxxxx" mail and he came back with "no but this will"

Regarding bracket and carpet you don't get these. I stuck the hooks of self adhesive Velcro on to the box and I sticks well to the carpet under the seat. If you move the seat all the way back you see about half the box. Iwas happy with the way it looks without the cover

Yes. I removed the glovebox (which helps getting the bolero back in) and removed or loosened thes side panel and kick plate. There are some cuts in the carpet and its possible to get from the side if the car to there

I think the oem position of the unit is under the drivers seat but I did under the passenger seat as it avoids having to get around the bonnet pull.

If you do take the glovebox out you have to disconnect the air bag fault which may give an airbag error but you can reset this when the rest of the coding for the Bluetooth is done..

White Maxidot?

....yes.

The kit I bought was plug and play. The loom has a short piece with a quad lock socket on one end and plug on the other. There's a long piece tee of with a plug for the box. you literally release the connector from the headunit (which if I remember is by lifting a lever) and plug this in to the socket on the loom. Plug the other end in to the headunit and that's pretty much it.

I seem to remember you may have to unwrap the original loom a little to give slack on the antenna. The hardest part is positioning the wires so you can get the headunit back in.

However, if you talk the top box and glovebox out, you can push the extra wiring down the side

I think it took max 2hr and you'd do the next one quicker....

Good luck

Steve

....yes.

Sorry I should have asked if you could elaborate as it sounds like there is more than one version/colour.

i have already on the existing quadlock wiring added some rear speakers wiring and a some rear view camera wiring so i hope that wont get in the way of things as already these wires have reduced the space

you'd need to check if your supplementary wiring is passed by the loom and move over to the new quadlock if not.

If you've had the headunit out an got it back in, you know how to do the hardest bit!

The mk1 octavia was based on the mk 4 golf that used a red DIS (driver information system). The current octavia uses a white maxidot, although i believe the protocol used changed pre to post facelift, so it's important to make sure you get the right unit.

I'm not sure that the red/white display is important for the mk2 octavia, as i think that there's not been a mk 2 octavia with a red display (but the same may not be the case with the mk5/6 golf).

Understood - my wife's MkV Golf has a red "Highline" (I believe it's called) trip computer, I have a the white version in my Octavia.
