Tried my TD Pro Race 1.2 today..... and a bit of pasty!

Featured Replies

Bit of a tight fit, even with 15mm spacers!

Manky centre cap badges as well! Had to do something about this! (and need to find black nut caps too!)

But I already had! Enter Pastyboy badges stage left! Perfect fit and look spot on!

That's close lol

There is a car with these on in the for sale section I think, didnt mention he had spacers. Maybe they are a different offset? I`m getting worried now I have my brakes and seen just how wide they are if they will fit under my TD 3`s or not. There looks to be a huge amount of room under them, but I think it`ll be close.

I`m also tempted to do them red now i`v seen yours looking tidy. Did you refurb them yourself at some point? I`m sure I read a thread on it ages ago.

I've never refurbed these. They are quite tatty in all. I just patched up some of the outer rim using primer and black magic touch up paint. These are only track wheels so will not get used on the road much. Liking the black look at the moment though.

Ah - sorry, didn't realise you meant the brakes! I was referring to the wheels :D

yeah, I tried to refurb them, hence them looking quite bad at the moment. Keeping my eye out for a decent set to change to, so I can get these refurbed, maybe in black?

Ah that is close :D I had the same thing myself with a set of APs and some comp mo's! Worked ok with no issues though, bit of doubt the first few times I went for a drive mind.

I took it steady for a bit. I rolled the wheel around when fitting, and looked to be no trouble. As long as the gap stays at 2mm to 3mm, or whatever it is, there shouldn't be an issue. Just glad I didn't think "I'll try 10mm spacers first...."

Ah sorry I wasnt very clear  Mine are a bit rough too, so if i`m going to change the colour it might as well be now. I`m obviously eager to get them on too, so maybe just a re lacquer and stickers would be ok. Decisions decisions. You could pick a set up, use them for the week while you paint yours then fog them on after. Shouldnt loose any money on them.

Just looked at your Brembos again, they look smart behind the 1.2s! Would love another set of decent stoppers B) Add to the wish list!

Off topic but are brembos that much better than 312's

Edited by lee_vrs

got APs on my Ibiza with 312mm disks and they feel better/stronger than the regular 312s on the Leon. LCR Brembos also have slightly bigger disks

To the uneducated they probably feel as strong, however they always feel that strong consistently, unless you push VERY hard (i.e long trackday use) - They will begin fading a lot slower than 312s due to bigger discs/larger pad area.

Taken through a sea-salt stained window at work, with zoom, with a not-so-good camera phone... Liking the black wheel look right now!

Can you do an up close photo to show just how far out those wheels are Jason?

When I tried the TT rims they were so far out I went off the idea. Still on the spiders and 8mm spacers.

Shall do. :) The fronts are as far out now as the Superlegs are, although probably technically the TDs might be just a few mm further out. They are 1 inch narrower, but spaced out 15mm (i.e more than half an inch). Thats assuming the offsets are the same, which I am not sure on....

Photos for Mr Fox. Cleaned up the wheels today and will be touching up a couple of areas again....

I think the rears now look a bit too sunk in, but can't be faffed with the hassle of getting another spacer kit just for looks. It was essential for the front wheels! :D

Like!!!!

Your headlight washers are on the wrong way :giggle:

I have to say the fronts look spot on now.

To be honest I was expecting them to stick out further.

That's another reasonable option for clearing Brembos then!

Any wheel wobble at speed?

  • Author

I've not been above 70 [cough...] but no wheel wobble at all. The place I get the tyres done always does a great job of balancing, and the spigot rings I bought mean they sit well on the hub.

Black wheels look spot on  I'm in Exeter again today btw!
