1.6 tdi dsg reliability

Featured Replies

Haven't posted on here for ages lol. Thinking of changing my 1.6 tdi manual for a 1.6 tdi dsg, it would be used as a taxi like my manual has been for the last 40k.

Posted on a taxi group on fb and few people have posted saying they've had problems and boxes going on the 1.6. Thought I'd ask on here as well, I service my car every 10k and I know the dsg box requires servicing every 40k which I would do as it would be a yearly thing for me.

IIRC the 1.6 tdi has the DQ250 7speed dry clutch therefore, no maintenance/oil change is required.

I think it gets an inspection at 150k km though, I'm not sure whats to inspect? I've thrown a loads of abuse at mine & its fine but thats only over 35k miles.

Not sure it won't affect your mpg though which I thought was king with you guys however, if you've got a liking they are a very smooth drive.

It is the DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG.

*No 40,000 mile oil changes or manufacturers service schedule / guidelines.*

The ones that had a world wide recall but just a Service Campaign in Europe.  34F7,  Software update and Synthetic Oil changed to Mineral.

Then from late 2016 some from 2013 on are getting Service Campaign 34H5 which is a software update due to failures and breakages of some DQ200 because of pressure and Mechatronic Control Units needing replaced and oil leaks.

So there are millions of the DQ200 with no issues, but thousands world wide that have had.

There is no Servicing required with a DQ200 they are oil filled for life in the Box and ECU, just Skoda / VW messed up the Oil's, had Clutch Pack issues / failures and generally '****** Up' big styleee.

Great gearboxes though.

This was the New Zealand Service Campaign on the DQ200, a proper one,

in Europe there were 2009-2013 DQ200 in for the Service Campaign, but there are some never needed it, and plenty never been done.

PS

Just a buyer beware warning and you probably know this,

If you ask at Parks Skoda Hamilton about the DQ200 DSG then you might get told any old rubbish,

like 'They need an Oil change every 40,000 miles, or they have done that'.

since Gordon is a Moron moved on the place is no better sadly.

Would never use parks Skoda for anything ever again! Henry's Skoda get all my warranty work to do. I'm still undecided but think I'm gonna end up just going for the 2 litre dsg if I change
