Engine management light

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help please. Bought a yeti September 16 All was great until Sept 17 when the engine  management light went on.  Took the car back to dealer who said I hadn't filled the add blue up on time.  When I convinced  theme I had they said it needed a software update. The engine management Iight came on again in November  and the said it needed a knox  sensor and pump.  Yet again the light came on again on Monday.   Now they have had to order a pipe direct from the factory, but are not sure what the problem is or if this pipe will fix the car.  Won't get my car back until next Friday at the earliest and no one will help.  It seem bad that a 16 month old car is breaking down every 2 to 3 months and no one can fix it of help. The car is a 66 plate 2 leater tdi

Before anyone can give a proper answer I think we need some further details.

Exactly which engine is fitted; 110 or 150?

Mileage when bought?
Mileage now?

Type of journeys undertaken?
What services have been done?

Where are you in Wales?

It's a 2.0 Tdi 110,  bought brand new 6 miles on the clock when I picked it up. I live between Wrexham and Mold but drive to work in Liverpool 4 days a week hence the choice of a diesel  car.  It now has just over 24k miles on the clock and had its first service at 20k.  Ps sorry about the spelling in the first post but very upset as no customer service at all.

I told them that today and they said no as they won't know if the problem is fixed.  The only way they will know it's not fixed is if it breaks down again.  They can't tell me exactly what the problem is.  They just keep saying they have never known this to happen before and have never had to replace the knox sensor before.  I'm gathering the pipe they are replacing is the same as it has to come directly from the factory.

  1. I've spoken to the customer care and got no help at all., Apparently both the customer care and the dealer have sent the details to skoda technical  but im not so sure.  Oh and the section of pipe was ordered the day before skoda  tech got back to them.  Any time I have tried to contact  skoda they just keep sending me to customer care. Just don't know what else to do.

Diesel we had problems with ours eventually dealer allowed us a buy back and now have a unleaded, yes slightly less miles but this outlays the potential repair costs that could loom with DPF issues from the software update even though we did the miles

My yeti has broken down again 5 times in 6 months now.  The garage have said they are looking into figures for a buy back.  Can any one tell me what happens with a buy back?  The only replacement yeti's they can find are 67 plates mine is a 66 plate.

The Dealership & Skoda UK should pay the cost /losses, the car has a Warranty and the car is not fit for purpose.

They have insurance,  VW Group. They need to suck it up and do the right thing.

A straight swap with no money from you for a 67 plate against your 66 plate would be what to go for.

Not the deal they will want to do, but then Skoda UK import cars from Skoda CZ and they got it wrong not you.

Would you accept a DSG Yeti?

If not then there will be 66 plate Manual Yeti coming back 'Into Trade' with VW Finance from 2 year lease.

They will just have to try harder to find you a manual.

Not like they do not have access to the Main Dealership stock.   Dealership might be your contact, Skoda UK are representing the Warranty Underwriter,

after all it is them & VW Group.

Took weeks of fighting but to be honest didn't expect the result I got. Very happy as the old car had 26k on the clock. Oh and no extra cost!I

My yeti was a SE which is the bottom of the range  in the new car.  It dosent come with the headlight washers or the varyflex seats.  They have said they will fit both of these and give me a set of mats.  Basically the car will have everything my old car had. Although it will have LED lights it won't roll back on hills etc.  All the stuff that is standard on the new car.  Although they have a bit of a problem as with the extras it should be a factory order. I am not able to wait that long due to knee problems, I need a high seating position.  They will have to see what stock they can get hold of.  The only do the varyflex seating in the SEL AS standard, so wait and see.  Oh and my colour options now include all finishes at no extra cost.

That looks good - interested to see if the dealer can find you a car with the extras you want in a reasonable time. Are you still driving your "old" Yeti while they get the new Karoq or have they given you a courtesy car instead?
