Dsg 6 speed box

Featured Replies

Hi,

My Roomster has covered 67000 miles. Bought it with 64000 on the clock. Not sure if the gearbox oil has ever been changed, can’t find this in the service book. Can anyone tell me what the service interval should be for changing the fluid please?

Its a 6 speed box in a 1.6 Roomster 3 on a 58 plate.

Your Roomster does not have a DSG does it, it is a Triptronic.

Best enquire at a Skoda Main Dealership on the fluid change, i have no idea if different from the 40,000 mile interval of a Wet Clutch DSG.

Hi Awaoffski,

Many thanks for that. I was worried that the change was overdue.

Many thanks again,

Rabitus.

From what I understand the tiptronic box has no defined service interval and is designated as "sealed for life", only the DSG has a 40K defined oil change interval.

However this is the problem, there is no definition of the word "Life", it could be 10 years, 20 years, 100K miles etc.

At 10 years old it maybe worth asking an independent specialist their thoughts, as it maybe worth getting the gearbox oil and filter changed as a precautionary measure. There is no point asking a dealer as all you get is the sealed for life comment.

There is a point in asking, because for 5 minutes of your time you can get one answer, even if rubbish, and with an Email you can get a reply in  writing.

You can then ignore or act on the reply, because after all you asked here so you are interested / concerned.
