Skoda fabia dsg loss of drive

Featured Replies

Hi i have a skoda fabia mk2 VRS 2011

I was driving with the car in d3, the car randomly went into D on the display with no gear next to it

i tried to accelerate but nothing happened just slowly pulled to a stop

the car wont start now as i put it in park and turned it off.

now the car wont start with it saying fault esp

cannot even put the car in neutral as it wont start
 Any help plzzz

Get it plugged in, ESP/ABS usually end up in being a faulty sensor however strange that its just "died". Its not letting you put it into park even when the ignition is on and foot on the brake?

Early diagnosis looks like your mechatronic\gear selectors have jammed If its not letting you even move it out of gear.

Didn’t something like this happen to a chap on here a couple of months ago? Wasn’t it something like a safety feature when the brakes failed the gearbox locked so it wasn’t able to move?

First things first get the car scanned.

Got an computer to check it yesterday getting all sorts of codes

After checking the fuses

the control unit for automatic gearbox 5 AMPS was blown changed it now the car starts and drives

however when i put it into sports regardless of putting my foot down it cuts out after 10-30 seconds replacing s on its own without a gear selected.

looking at the codes looks like i have a faulty altenator however not sure if thats actually causing it....

The World Wide Recall in 2012/13 and the European Service Campaign '34F7' from 2014 was for 'Loss of drive' which could occur because of a blown fuse,

but it was about the MCU / sulphur and all that jazz.

@Sittingbull is not having an issue with his Twincharger which has a new engine & £2,800 of DSG cost with new clutches & MCU but with a family members Mk3 Fabia.

Will not Start, stuck in P.  Dead as a dodo.

@USMANM19

Did your car get '34F7' done anytime since 2014?   That was called as a preventative measure against the 'Loss of drive'.

I see you had fuse issues already.

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/474005-fuse-box-at-battery

What was the outcome of that. & what was the fault blowing a fuse, is it the same as now?

to sort that i put it a higher amp fuse as when i looked at the wires the wire for the 5amp was much skinnier, when looking at the one which was blowing should have been a 5 amp however the wire was thicker so was told a 5amp should not be used there

that sorted the problem there

Just rang the same skoda and they have said it has been done

😭😭😭. these new cars

Can't say otherwise they were paid to do it.

What is the other sticker, 74G7 or something?

Is it Heated Seats ?  a 'Skoda Secret Service Campaign' item

?

Is your car running the original engine?

Just wondered if it was a members from here that had a new engine in his.

New engine In 2014 and yes the other stickers for the heated seats

anyone know if a faulty alternator could be overcharging and Possibly blowing the fuses

2011 and corrosion at the various connectors can be an issue.

Was your cars first MOT around 43,000 miles.

I was thinking on this car.

Engine changed by Simpsons.

EDIT.

Not it.

It was blue with white roof and early 2010.

I think so not too sure

Anyone have any ideas as to why its blowing a 5 amp fuse which belongs to the control unit for automatic gearbox

after replacing the fuse it is fine for a bit however hard acceleration causes it to blow

any wires i need to check?

As @Roottootemblowinootsoot mentioned my daughters mk3 Fabia 1.4tdi is also having a very similar problem with her 7sp DQ200 gearbox, with the latest code being the generic one for loss of contact with transmission control module.

A Skoda Diagnostic technician on another forum has said from the outset that it would require a new gear selector mechanism, the likely cause being a microswitch has failed leaving the car believing it to be in gear when in fact it is stuck fast in P. It is also possible and perhaps likely that it could be down to a wiring problem. I would be eternally grateful if someone could find the part number for such a wiring loom as it may make a huge difference to my daughter. The technician mentioned as well that he had seen Tpi for this, when they come in under warranty dealerships swap out the gear selector unit rather than tinker about with looking for a broken wire or wires.

Skoda UK want nowt to do with it as car out of warranty, a 2016 car with 28,000 miles on clock.

With our vRS to be sold shortly, I can safely say I will never buy or recommend another Skoda in what time I am granted on this earth. We love our car, but the build quality isnt there and the aftersales as well as Customer Services are scandalous.
