Kodiaq 1.5 TSI dsg7

Featured Replies

Hi all, im close to ordering a kodiaq 1.5 TSI automatic and have read conflicting information regarding the clutch. Should i be worried about a getting a poor clutch? Does anyone know which dq gear is delivered? It says dsg7 and nothing else. Thanks!

If a FWD 1.5 TSI then it is a 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DQ200 DSG.

If keeping it beyond the Manufacturers Warranty i would purchase the Extended Warranty for 2 years before the car is First Registered.

PS

Actually i just noticed i replied in the Kodiaq Section.

Even if a AWD with a DSG that is not a DQ200, i would still extend the warranty.  Sadly there are a few with issues already.

No worries :)

The 1.5 TSI Kodiaq has DQ381 gearbox.

This is a 7 speed oil clutch gearbox. Very smooth. I have the same :)

They are built and designed to be very smooth, and reliable if serviced to schedule which is 40,000 mile oil changes according to VW, Skoda & SEAT & 38,000 miles with Audi.

Just a pity that VW, SEAT, Skoda & Audi can not see fit to put a 7 year warranty on ones serviced to schedule.

If the Dq381 is fitted to the 1.5tsi fwd Kodiaq then it will the first time that I am aware of.

Previous policy has been to fit the 'dry' dq200 7 speed where torque is 250nm or less (I think there have been exceptions for awd) across the group.

Hopefully some references can be quoted to be sure one way or the other.

Personally I would not be keen to keep a dq200 beyond warranty.

After talking with Skoda today, they confirmed that the 1.5 TSI fwd is carrying the dq381, though it is also not catching praise online. Probably better than the dq200 though, right?

When somebody knows for sure what is fitted to a FWD (not AWD) 1.5TSI Kodiaq please confirm.   Say where you got that from and if in writing from Skoda maybe post what they said.

Thanks for the update. That is interesting. I would still be sceptical of anything from Skoda over the phone 😞

The wet clutches have proven more durable in the past but timely maintenance is essential.

See the specs at the bottom of page 1.  It confirms that the 1.5 TSI DSG has a wet clutch 7 speed. This must be the DQ381.

This document is dated 14.1.19.  There’s a similar older document that covers the 1.4 TSI that shows that it has a dry clutch DSG.

I’ve just ordered the same model: SEL 1.5 TSi DSG (Dec 19 build & Mar 20 delivery) and both the dealer and Skoda UK have confirmed that the transmission is DQ381 NOT DQ200.
