Cazoo Bother

Featured Replies

Bought a 2016 Octavia SE L from cazoo with 16k miles and have had nothing but trouble.

It came, I took it for a spin and coolant light came on. Popped bonnet and reservoir were close to empty. Timing belt hasn't been done although it had "FSH". When I zoomed in on their pictures the reservoir was close to empty when they took the pictures.

When I went  to open the bonnet passenger door card were flapping about missing the clips and bolt at bottom.

The cazoo number plate they fit wasnt tightened and missing rubber padding so bouncing around.

Only provided one pretty worn key, that when put in ignition says battery needs changing.

3 of the 4 alloy wheel bolt covers are missing.

Advertised as having adaptive cruise control but non existent. Smart link not activated and satnav needed an SD Card.

Gave it a wash and both front wheel arches look to have been resprayed as clear coat peeling.

I have been on the phone on hold listening to the endless "take the hassle out of used car buying with our 300 point inspection...

Each person I have spoken to has been understanding, got it booked in to sort all issues out but too many niggles in back of my mind so getting sent back.

Got another reserved from a dealer (spent 300£ on dog guard/boot liner/mud guard/rubber mats) so needed same again. Fingers crossed its better because really liked the car.

Throw it back as "not as described".

Welcome.

The problem with Cazoo seems to be Cazoo.

So their inspections are kidology obviously.  Return the car if you wanted a peach and got a lemon.

When you look at a car on their site can you download the results of the 300 point inspection?

I have often wondered what 300 points are inspected.

'Wheels - check, Tyres - check'

That's 8 to start with😆.

I like the RAC Approved Used Dealerships and 92 point checks and 1 year Warranty & Road Side Assistance or option 4 year Warranty etc.

Dealers can advertise the cars for sale  as soon as dropped off  & even before they even have them and having the 92 point inspection.

Obviously they do at some point inspect the cars, put anything right & all is well.

Cazoo have the cars there, have a socially inclusive employment policy which includes the employment of photographers and the visually impaired.

'67 - Coolant: Adjust coolant content if necessary' - I guess 'adjusting' isn't the same as topping up 🙄

'In addition to a thorough inspection, our technicians take each used car for a full road test to check its engine performance, steering and brakes and to ensure that it's in full working order.' - All good then 👍

Inspection and technicians seemingly not particularly trustworthy then.  Surprise, surprise.

Edit: This one made me chuckle - '13 - Keys: Check at least one key is present'

If you are not be happy, return it for a full refund, you have 7 days to do so.

I sold my previous car to Cazoo around a month ago, received absolutely top money from them, as I'd also checked else where. Although I've never bought a car from them yet.

I purchased my 2019 low mileage used Octavia recently from a none Skoda main dealer, didn't physically see it either, arrived with a few bodywork niggles and it wasn't fully serviced as previously agreed, but the dealership went out of it's way to sort these issues out for me, afterwards. They paid for all the work to be done at a local to me Skoda dealer, as I also had two weeks to return the car back to them if I wasn't fully happy.

When the time comes to buy another used car within the future I'll certainly test drive it first. Too many variables to go wrong from distance selling. Although it was hard for me to find the exact spec I wanted locally.

I have just looked at an Enyaq on the Cazoo site to see whether I could download the results of the 300 point inspection but it does not seem to be available to buyers.

However the details of the Enyaq do state that they car out an oil and filter change on EVERY Cazoo car before they list it for sale. I wonder which oil and filter they charge on a electric car?

There is transmission oils with a Tesla, Leaf's etc & pollen filters with EV's, also coolant.

PS

Finding EV Service Schedules is a load of fun.

Even getting to know when EVHC,s are due.

After I sold my car to Cazoo, 3 weeks later it came up for sale on their website, I sold it with a full main dealer history, they managed to lose the service book I handed over to the valuer on the day (no digital record), they also advertised my car with 6k less on the clock than it actually had, obviously an admin error. I also believe the company is within financial dire straits.

Would certainly seem so, whilst I know some businesses will tolerate a loss trying to disrupt a marketplace enough to leave themselves dominant, Cazoo have posted hundreds of millions in losses in just a couple of years along with now starting to heavily cut staff. I don't see how it's going to be sustainable.

From another thread on the forum.

Seems all the online only car sellers have their issues. My Octy VRS was purchased from Cinch. I know it might be a gamble but trying to find the exact spec I wanted locally was a bit tricky. Intention was to return the car the moment anything major popped up. Nearly walked away from the sale when they messed up on the delivery date. Thankfully all went well and even got a full tank of fuel as a goodwill gesture for the trouble.

Long story short, don't feel afraid to (Politely, but firmly) complain if you find anything wrong with an online car purchase. Or vote with your feet and wallet if it is really bad.

There are so many cars out there during this supposed shortage of used cars that drove up the asking prices of used cars and inflation.

During lockdown anything that came in the country got registered and especially if they were supposedly low C02 emitters.

Lent out to NHS or whoever, leased out, bought by Motability and leased out.

Cars that were never raced or rallied, well not on a track but just miles put on them and then back to the owner & on to auction or to the Pile them high and sell them cheap or not so cheap. Actually for more than they are really worth.

Banks, financial services / Insurance companies and foreign finance and investment money into online companies buying cars, turning cars around and maybe even making losses or what looks like a loss as you pay tax on profits and paying back borrowed money means your profits are low or zero.

There also especially seems to be an extra premium paid on one owner low mileage used cars.

I sold my car only to Cazoo, but the service I received from them was exemplary and payment was made immediately. They have also put up their collection charges from £99 to £149, also noticed a general £49 admin fee on used car purchases, so maybe they're trying to recoup some money back.

I doubt that during normal times they would ever have got beyond the stage of dreaming up a business plan and pitching for investment, the Covid pandemic fell at the right time for them, the banks who make their money lending money had nobody but failing businesses to lend to.

Right place right time, in normal times they would have already gone bust but the investors like compulsive gamblers keep throwing money at the table hoping to recover their losses, the longer they and their ilk continue the greater the eventual collapse.

Came yesterday and took ot away. Money back in my account this afternoon. They offered £50 compensation and to pay for the accessories I'd bought and taxis totalling about £280 so cant complain really.
