Hi folks

looking for some information

I am considering fitting a Columbus sat nav to my vrs

I have read various threads about this but the information is a bit contradictory.

Has any one fitted a Columbus to their Fabia?

If so does the rear parking sensors work in the same why as intended that is showing the parking picture on the radio

Also does the steering controlls work

Any likes dislikes recomendation etc

I believe the Columbus has problems because the Fabia's canbus does not include a speed signal.

Some have got it working by hacking the Columbus (RNS510) software, the early version didn't need one.

Not sure how they get round this on models that have the Amundsen (RNS310). Either the canbus is upgraded or the RNS310 doesn't need a speed signal.

Other option is the VW specific units from Kenwood or Pioneer, the Pioneer I've got and the parking sensors work fine, on hgher models the climate control is also shown.

..i have the new facelift 2010 TSI and my COLUMBUS works like a charm

..just plugg and play....................i have also added a rear view camera

same as dk above, have a 2010 tsi with columbus, one of the best things about the car...absolutely love the radio, sets the car out from the crowd abit...when you chuck in reverse it shows up on the screen although I don't have a camera fitted, just the sensors

Depending on the year of the OP's car, it will either slot in and work, or you would need to upgrade the can gateway. Someone has done an early Roomster so it would be worth looking there. I tried it in my old vRoomster and everything worked apart from the speed signal, which would have required a CAN upgrade but I never got round to it.

Hi ! It's working in my VRS (04.2011) without any issues . Wheel steering , FIS and OPS working too.
