£20 wheel refurb offer from a Birmingham company

I know I read about an offer, maybe as much as a few months ago on here - but I can't find the thread now :dull:

I know it involved this company as I've just found them on a Google search  http://www.citypowdercoaters.co.uk/

Sorely tempted to give them a try, but if anyone has examples of their work, that would help enormously!

Thanks,

Steve

Give me till the weekend and I will post some pictures up as I have had 5 wheels done by them - I have not seen them yet but I have been told they do look good ...... time will tell.

I might get mine done (hopefully towards end of Sept/early Oct) when I have some spare money. Luckly I still have the steel wheels in the back yard

Right now I have my winter wheels back (my parents live about 15 miles from them so my dad offered to take them and get them done as I am over 200 miles away from them) the verdict? well worth the £20 per wheel they charged for them to be done, one wheel however is quite poor on the inside (lacquer flaky) If I had collected them then I would of got them to do this one again, but as i said it is on the inside so it's not the end of the world.

On account these are 'only' winter wheels I am happy with the finish, ATEOTD these are 13 year old wheels that were very badly corroded, not helped by being stored in a garden for the last .... who knows. They were hower all straight and with no kerb damage on them, which is just as well as from my experience with city powder coaters they do not repair any damage on the wheels (there are a couple of marks on one of the alloys that IMO could of easily been repaired with very little effort - but when they are only charging £20 a wheel they obviously cant afford to spend too long on each wheel.

So would I get them do do another set??

If they were either winter wheels as these are or to tart a car up to sell then yes they are more than good enough for that, if however I had some curbed alloys that I wanted to look like new again or I was OCD about my wheels then would pay the extra and go with someone who specialises in wheel repairs.

Thanks for that Gizmo. I've made up my mind and I might get them to do my current 17s done there, which I'll use as winters. There's a few reasonably bad marks from blind parking though, so unsure how they'd come back from them?

But for my main wheels they're off to PureKlas tonight B)

Pictures will be along shortly when they've been done and I've had my tyres fitted - perhaps within a week or so :)

Cheers,

Steve

If I end up taking these existing 17s to them, I'll give you a shout and take your set as well :)

The way I look at it is that it's worth the fuel there and back seeing they're a lot cheaper than more local options.

Thanks for the offer but I've only just put them on the car, I was going to leave them for a bit.

Its not the cost of going down the M6 that's the problem, its the time for the 2 trips to get them done.

Just to update, my 'main' set are now back. I didn't use this lot in the end, based mainly on the feedback from Gizmo on the repair/filling/sanding aspect of the work done really.

To keep things simple, I've put that in a separate thread:

Martin, how did these hold up for you?

I am now also looking to get a set of wheels refurbed and don't want to pay the earth as I may keep them, I may not...
