1.4 ltr Auto flywheel

Featured Replies

I own a 2014 Skoda Octavia hatch 1.4 Tsi  DSG Elegance with only 38000 miles on the clock.

I am told by a main dealer that due to the double clutch failing the flywheel is damaged and requires replacing. There aren’t any in the country so it will have to be ordered in.

Is this a common fault and the reason for no stock being available or is it uncommon?    Has this happened to you?

Not common.

So has your DQ200 DSG required or had Service Campaign '34H5' which is a Software update that began late 2017 on some 2013-2015 DQ200's.

What are Skoda UK going to contribute towards this repairs?     If the car should have had the Service Campaign and been at  a main dealers since 2017 and it was not done then Skoda UK can pay 100% of the costs.  Or them and the Dealership that never made the owner aware of the Service Campaign can.

I've had clutches and flywheel replaced at 25k miles for clutch slip and judder.

I’m not sure if software update has been made. I have no recollection of it ever being mentioned.

Are you saying that if the update wasn’t installed it could be the cause of the clutches failing prematurely and therefore the whole replacement costs for clutches and flywheel should be made by Skoda?  At the moment the dealer has offered 60% towards cost of flywheel but we are still negotiating.

@barbershop

An offer of 60% on an overinflated cost is the usual type of thing.

DQ200's with Fundamental Design, Manufacturing and Materials / Components and premature failure is a 100% Skoda / VW Contribution item.

Best see if your car should have been part of the recall action.

After all it was introduced because of premature failings in the pump, casing or whatever.

Anyone at Skoda UK Customer Services like a Resolution Manager called Cheri Cornish needs to go check if they say 'No known issue'.

I only asked as my old 1.4 TSI ELEGANCE was that colour but, mine (RK14CNE) no longer shows up on the DVLA computer unless you're running a private plates

There are a lot of cars about that should have had '34H5' carried out and have not and the funny thing is that there are ones that have been 'Skoda Approved Used cars',

or VW, SEAT or Audi Approved Used cars with FMDSH and visits to main dealers and Workshop checks before resale.

That is the issue and a fail with VW Service Campaigns that are not 'Recalls' or even Recall Actions.
