Spare wheel?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Is there an option for a spare wheel i.e. space saver for the Enyaq?

I could not see this as an option via the skoda configurator? Can anyone advise.

Looking at a standard 60 iV.

Cheers,

Hung

No, there is mot an option for a spare wheel on the enyaq. There is nowhere to put it.

The VW id4 has a spare wheel option (£400) and it basically just takes up half the boot.

The enyaq tyres look like they are self sealing according to the brochure, so I'd guess a spare tyre is not needed unless you get a total blow out.

What do you mean by self sealing? do you mean run flats? Or does it come with a tyre repair kit?

There is a repair kit and 12v electric pump as standard.

Neither. Self sealing is like having a bit of the gunk already in the tyre. So if you get a nail or small hole there is some gunk that will seal It straight away. Skoda believe this negates the need for a gunk kit and pump, so my understanding is cars with self sealing tyres don’t get the kit.

I’ve read cars with the self sealing tyres don’t get that kit, only cars with standard tyres get it.

My IV60 was delivered with the kit .

Perhaps I should mention this was France as I know 'Standard' varies by country.

Mine is a UK car, it has Bridgestone tyres with B-Seal and came with a repair kit (pump and sealant).

There is also a space saver spare tyre size and pressure displayed on the tyre pressures sticker, so presumably a spare must be available in some markets ?

Ok that blows that theory out the water then!

Interesting, that's the first time i've heard of this type of self sealing tyre.  Are there limitations of this? I mean if you find a nail and it sealed it, can the tyre still be used for the life of it or is it limited to so many miles such that you must change the tyre asap.

There are threads on Self sealing tyres like Continental ContiSeal tyres in the Tyre Section.

They have been getting fitted to VW Group cars that have no spares for years.  eg Alhambra / Sharan.

Lots of vids on Self sealing tyres on Youtube,   Pull out a nail that is in the tread and it can self seal, then get to a Tyre Inflator if you have no pump and inflate a bit if required,

check the others or adjust and reset the TPMS.

A wrecked tyre is wrecked.   Some places can and will plug a Self sealing tyre if required, some say not possible because they do not know how to.

I will now be getting a spare wheel for mine. I’ll source a suitable wheel and put together a toolkit with jack, or just buy an ID4 spare from a VW dealer. Travelled about 1000 miles this week with 2 trips over the Pennines. No range anxiety, even in atrocious conditions on the M62 with 10% battery I was quite happy I’d reach my planned charger. But No Spare Anxiety is now officially a thing for me !

I don’t want to sit waiting for a recovery truck that may or may not be able to fit a new tyre (at some ridiculous price no doubt), or have to be towed home or to a tyre place in the nearest town that may not even have the rare size tyres that are fitted.
