7 speed DSG clutch...cost?

Featured Replies

Hi...any idea how much is reasonable for a clutch/flywheel for a 1.5 petrol Octavia 7 speed DSG 19 plate. Also would you guys recommend using a main dealer..a couple of mechanics have told me it is a tricky job that an indie  garage might mess up.

Thanks

@baguaboy

Sorry no idea, but can i ask why you need clutches and flywheel?  Who diagnosed this and how many miles has the car done?

Use a Automatic Gearbox Specialist.

Where are you in the UK if you are in the UK?

@ApertureSmight be able to give an idea of the expected cost.

Bear in mind that the DSG is a dual clutch system, so one or both may need replacing.

They are clutch packs and you need the gear and more than ideas to change them.

The other thread is in the right section and maybe a mod will remove this one.

Maybe @baguaboycan tell more on who did the diagnosis and what they quoted the price would be,

and how many miles the car has done with the DQ200 DSG.

Funny you tag me in this!

im just pricing a clutch replacement up for my partners polo which is a DQ200.

it’s not a straight forward job like a manual, you need special tools and the clutch needs shimming correctly to prevent early failure.

I would say you are looking around £1000 in a garage for a clutch replacement + the cost of the flywheel

A genuine clutch can be had for around £500 at trade. Most places charge £600 for a clutch replacement with the box already out (including parts) so you just have to add the cost of removing the box itself.

The prices people are having to pay with Clutch Pack replacement, or that and a MCU or refurbished MCU, or just selector forks is well documented in the Fabia Mk2 section with DQ200's fitted in Mk2 Fabia vRS.

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/420740-mk2-fabia-vrs-aka-green-monster/page/3 Bottom of the page.

Repair kits and upgraded Actuators have changed / reduced just how much some are paying now for repairs that were being done but may not have been required.

My mate less than 1 mile away is a top Automatic Gearbox Specialist and has done plenty DQ200's and a few members here repairs.

There is no point me giving any idea how much he charges as lots of his jobs are for dealerships that do not do the work themselves.

Or he does the repair required after ridiculous diagnosis and quotes to do the job from the Main Dealers 15 miles or 30 miles away.

Doing the flywheel is not that common though.     As to a DQ200 DSG is a 2019 car that really needs an explanation to why needed, other than things are broken.

Sometimes dealerships employees seem to turn a crisis into a drama.

This Service campaign does not apply after 2015.   There are TPI's though and Clutch Slip Issues as covered in the Fabia Mk3 Famous DSG Clutch Slip thread.

Hello & welcome to the forum.

I'd only use a main dealer if you'd took out an extended warranty with them, otherwise I'd use a independent gearbox specialist to have a look at it for you.
